Covington Energy specializes in energy management. We do not sell electricity; rather, our devices allow you, our customers, to purchase less electricity from your supplier.
We are distributors of the KVAR Energy Controller. KVAR has been in existence for over 15 years. They warranty their residential units for 15 years but the life expectancy for the devices is 25 years. Up to now, KVAR distributors have primarily been electricians and contractors that offer the devices to their customers, limiting exposure of the company to the general population. Given the current debate and concerns surrounding the cost of energy, we believe that the time has come for widespread awareness of our power factors and the ability to optimize them for significant energy savings.
Other companies have made similar products available. These have each been the target of legislation from KVAR for patent infringement and other illegal activities. As an example, at least one would-be competitor cites the patents that are in the name of KVAR's founder, Greg Taylor, as their own and uses the Underwriter's Labs certificate for KVAR devices for their own. They even use the same product numbers. The future of such businesses are destined to be shorter than the owners desire, causing the warranties their customers hold to become worthless.
